I've been tatting som although I haven't been well.
I was just diagnosed with Episcleritis and also Glaucoma. I thought I had PinkEye and went to get it checked and I was told the Episcleritis was from having Lupus and she saw damage to my optic nerve resulting from increased eye pressure likely from my out of control Diabetes. I am awaiting my appointment with my Endo as I am being recommended for the insulin pump. THAT I am happy about!!! I know I will feel much better on the pump! I can't wait!
Back to tatting- here are some bits n bobs I've been twiddling with...
This one is Miranda's Angels In The Snow (Golly I love this pattern so much I memorized it!) done in size 20 Peacock Blues.
Next is YarnPlayers Points In Time in size 20 Everything Nice by Jess!
I have tatted several more but as exhaustion has been getting the better of me that will be all for now...

Excitement to disappointment
Going through my thread stash I found the last of my skein of Krystledawnes Mad Science I had put away for a special project. I just knew the perfect pattern for it; Jon Yusof's Merriment Doily! Eagerly I loaded the shuttles and tatted the entire afternoon away when much to my shock, disappointment and sadness I realized that I only had enough thread for HALF of the pattern! My heart is absolutely broken as I have really fallen in love with the ease and beauty of this pattern. I now don't know what to do with this beautiful little treasure! Any suggestions?

Another Motif for the 25 Motif Challenge
While sitting around on my sore butt from my wheelchair being broke I finally tatted another motif.
This is Kira's star (cant remember the designer) in "Everything Nice" by Jess! and dark purple in Lisbeth size 20.

In the wee hours, the impossible becomes a reality!
Couldn't sleep last night (I am under a great deal of stress lately) so I thought I would tat a bit. I have tried this pattern before only to give up from frustration. Well, (with a few mistakes) I nailed it finally!!!
I am moderately pleased with myself on accomplishing this pattern as I had copied it wrong and was missing almost the entire second half of the pattern!
This is Susan K Fuller's Hearts Desire and is done in size 20 in "Fancy Fields" by Tatilicious. The colors are much prettier in person!

I've been tagged!
I've been tagged!
Here's the rules:
1. Each person must post 11 random facts about themselves
2. Answer 11 questions the tagger has given you and give 11 questions for the people you tagged
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post
4. Tell them you've tagged them. Remember, no tag backs!
Hmmmm, 11 facts about me.....
1. I have a warped sense of humor. Especially jokes that make people say"Oh no, that's wrong"!
2. My favorite cartoonist is S. Gross, creator of "An Elephant Is Soft And Mushy". Look it up, read it and you will understand the meaning of answer #1!
3. Despite the fact that I am overweight, I am a health nut. My idea of candy is either a generous helping of brussel sprouts or a bowl of fresh pineapple chunks. My husband who weighs 50+lbs less than I do has to be watched otherwise he buys donuts, cookies and all that other garbage! It drives me nuts!
4. I am a high green belt in Tae Kwon Do. YES in the wheelchair! I had an instructor who taught disabled people TKD and I got as high as high green before we moved. I would love to continue but my disability has progressed so that it's not likely.
5. I was a bouncer for about 6 months (yes again while in the wheelchair). I mostly did the carding but on several occasions had to break up some fights (yes, fisticuffs!). My coworkers all respected me and considered me a force NOT to be reckoned with after seeing me take down a guy bigger than my hubby(6"2-350lbs).
6. I am a licensed manicurist. I don't practice anymore as my hands don't work as well as I wished they would. I graduated at the top of my class without any effort or much studying. This was after the school didn't want to let me in because I am in a wheelchair. They were faced with the threat of a hefty fine for discrimination and a huge lawsuit by me, so they let me in; although they did their best to try to sabotage me every step of the way, including attempting to sabotage my state boards by getting rid of the accessible table I used the day I took my states and forcing me to use a table balanced poorly on a set of books. The state people forced them to pay for my retesting and they had to get me an accessible table. I passed with flying colors of course.
7. Despite being a manicurist, I am a compulsive nail biter! Yes I know it's terrible!
I used to wear LCN overlays and at one time my nails were 2 inches long from the tip of my fingers; but the expense of upkeep was too much and without the strong overlays, my paper thin nails aren't strong enough to withstand anything.
So I just shamefully keep biting them!
8. I love snakes! Actually I love all animals, I just have an especially strong fondness for snakes.
9. My husband and I spent 2 years rescuing exotic animals. At one time we had 7 snakes, 2 Ameiva lizards, 2 red eye frogs, 5 geckos, 1 chameleon, 1bearded dragon, 1scorpion, 3 tarantulas, 8 cockatiels, 11 finches, 2 parrotlets, 2 lovebirds,
2 greencheek parrots, 1cockatoo, a cat and various saltwater and freshwater fish and a cage full of walking sticks. We now only have the cat left from all our rescues. It was so disheartening to realize how these kinds of animals an be so misunderstood! Many of the birds we took in died shortly after their rescue came too late to save them from the years of abuse and neglect they endured before coming to our home. My only consolation was that they were able to experience and know love as they slipped away from the bonds of this world if only for a short time. My heart still aches and not one day goes by that I don't think about them. The ones that luckily survived have all been rehomed and will live out their lives happy and healthy. Please remember that just because an animal isn't "cute and furry" does not mean it doesn't need just as much love and respect. And birds are not just something to be looked at in a cage. They need attention and interaction and most of all LOVE.
10. Although I can't stand anything on my feet, I LOVE when my feet are rubbed! It is my "sleep button". Whenever John rubs my feet (usually every night) I am guaranteed to be asleep in under 5 minutes! Don't ask me why, I have no clue!
11. I love to travel, although I have a major phobia of highways! I also will not fly or go by ship! I once made John drive the entire vertical distance of Illinois by stae and county roads! It took us 2 1/2 days to reach Kentucky from Wisconsin!
I also made him drive from Cheyenne Wyoming around down through Nebraska to avoid the Interstate in Colorado just to get to Pueblo, CO! My kids say I am so weird; after reading this, I guess I am!
In response to questions from my tagger Jess!:
1. You are walking and you come up on a skunk, what is your first thought?
The very first thought in my head is: "Inky"! We had a family friend when I was a child that had a pet skunk named Inky. I know it sounds silly, but that's the first thing that pops in my head. On a footnote I was recently sprayed by a skunk while out on a nature walk with John and Diamond. A lady's dog attacked on and she was screaming (I thought she was being attacked so I went to see how I could help) and the poor little guy ran past me and sprayed me as well as the dog. That's what I get for trying to be helpful! Luckily with a few sprays of equal parts of peroxide, baking soda and a bit of dish soap I was deskunked!
2 2. Did you know that only 5% of the population can touch all of the their top teeth with their tongue?
No I did not know that. I must be one of the few.
3. Do you think a picture is actually worth a thousand words?
Depends on what the picture is of!
4. Number 2 is completely false, but did you try it when you read that?
Of course I did! LOL
5. What is your favorite scent?
I have 2 favorites that I can't decide between: Lilac and Jasmine (I named my oldest Jasmine so I guess that answers that).
6. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I have no need for shoes as i am in a wheelchair. I do not own even one pair, I never wear shoes, yes even in winter-if it's too cold, I just don't go out.
7. How do you feel about socks?
I have nerve damage in my feet so I can't stand the feeling of anything on my feet, sometimes even my pant legs bother my feet!
8. What was the last movie you saw at the theater?
Final Destination 5. My family and I treated my mother to dinner and a movie.
9. Do you have any siblings?
I have 1 half sister on my mothers side and 3 half sisters from my fathers side.
10.How often do you blog?
Not as often as I would like!
11. How do you feel about caffeine?
Sitting here drinking my 5th cup, I am too wired to really think about it!!!
Ok now for the questions:
1. What is your earliest memory?
2. How many states have you been in? If you aren't from US, where would you go in the US?
3. What is your favorite foreign food?
4. How do you feel about exotic animals, particularly snakes, lizards and arachnids?
5. How do you feel about the homeless? Do you know anyone who has ever been homeless? Have you ever helped a homeless person directly(not through charity groups)
6. What is the population of the city/town/village you live in?
7. When is the last time you watched a sunset?
8. What is your interpretation of "A rolling stone gathers no moss"?
9. What is the last book you read?
10. What are your thoughts of the taggers random facts?
11. What is the fanciest/most difficult thing you have ever cooked?
This is my attempt at tagging, hope it works!

Magically Tatting a Summer Night
Ahh the summer! Warm clear starry nights with fireflies!
Thanks to Jess from Tatilicious those warm summer nights can be magically relived through her gorgeous Fireflies thread!
This is Mary Koniors Spinning Wheel Glass Mat. There are a few mistakes where I didnt tighten up the chains enough but the colors are absolutely astounding I think!
Thanks Jess!

A glutton for punishment, thats me!
This is the LAST time I will ever make her anything! Ok, first offered to make a necklace for her yesterday, therefore only having to tat 1 item. She would not have it! It HAD to be earrings! Ok so earrings made etc....She called today, demanding them. She came over, I gave them to her and she had the nerve to pretend like she was going to put them in, and then just shoved them in her pocket!!! Later, she saw my youngest making beaded jewelry and demanded in a whiny voice for her to make her "a nice pair of earrings" for SPD!!! This evening (still not wearing them) she then said could I make her a necklace instead!!!! When I gave her the earrings, she kept "picking" at them and even pretended she couldnt put them in her ears (they were small kidney wires and she's had pierced since before I was born!) She agreed to buy them but she then said she would have rather had a necklace instead!!! This was AFTER they were made!
I just cant win for losing!!!
Tell me, is there anything wrong with these? (OK besides the bad camera shot!)

Shamrock Earrings-With a rant
My mother continuously begs for just about everything I ever make. Every time she comes over and sees my tatting or me tatting it's always "Where's mine" ?- it drives me nuts! I have missed out on selling items, displaying items, gifts etc because of her greed plus the fact that I have been out of commission for a time and now back tatting again, only has brought back her demand for me to tat for her alone. Even gifts I have received from people I have taught to tat, she wants them too!!
I have tried to tell her no and all I get is an everlasting guilt trip!
Nevertheless, now she wanted shamrock earrings (whine, whine, whine) I told her, I was working on a birthday gift and I couldn't promise I would drop my current project for her items (again with the guilt!) she kept hounding me! I finally had to send my hubby across town with her to get her out of my hair. While then peacefully working on another shamrock that I thought had too much work for her to deserve it for all her demands and whining, I conjured up this little pattern that is quick and easy to make.
I know that there are dozens of shamrock patterns out there, so if I may have inadvertently made it too much like another's, it was completely unintentional.
This was however inspired by dimpled rings (don't know who created them, but want to aknowledge the artist who did)
